Buddy
-Â Growing Into Himself
Buddy, a young collie, came to us needing guidance in all the right places. Like many puppies, he needed a strong foundation in obedience and structure, but he also faced a few additional challenges that made everyday life more difficult.
He struggled with potty training, frequent barking, chasing cars, and an inability to settle. On top of that, Buddy lacked confidence and was often timid and unsure of the world around him. New environments and experiences could feel overwhelming, and he did not yet know how to navigate them calmly.
From the start, our goal was not just to teach obedience, but to help Buddy feel safe, confident, and capable.
We introduced foundational training including sit, down, place, recall, and leash manners, while also working through his potty training with consistency and clear routines. At the same time, we addressed his barking and car chasing by building impulse control and teaching him how to disengage and look to his handler for guidance.
A major focus of Buddy’s program was confidence building. Through structured exposure and positive experiences, he began to realize that the world was not something to fear. Instead of shutting down or reacting, he learned how to move through new situations with more ease and understanding.
As his confidence grew, so did his ability to settle. Buddy began to relax, regulate his energy, and exist more calmly both at home and in new environments.
By the end of his program, Buddy had transformed into a more balanced and secure young dog. His obedience was reliable, his potty training was consistent, and his behaviors were much more manageable.
Most importantly, Buddy was no longer navigating the world with fear. He had the confidence and tools to continue growing into a well adjusted, happy dog.
Buddy’s story is a reminder that sometimes the biggest transformations are not just about behavior, but about helping a dog feel confident in who they are.
